The directives were issued in Dodoma by the Minister of State in President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Authorities, Selemani Jafo when launching the Mwalimu Visa card and digital services. “Can you lower down costs so as to enable more teachers to access loans since they are most affected with the bad loans provided in the streets,” he said, adding that there are some teachers who were affected with higher interests’ loans and others failed to attend class sessions at their respective schools hence suspended due to bad loans. ....

The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Youth, Employment and Disabled), Jenista Mhagama registered these fears at a consultative meeting on the various challenges facing long route drivers, bringing together stakeholders in the transport sector and the Registrar of Trade Unions. She said that the government was concerned that the transport sector, as one of the crucial areas in the country’s economy; needs to ensure it operates in accordance with the laws, especially the Tanzania Employment and Labour Relations Act of 2004. ....
