He said the department received a call about the incident at 10:08 a.m.
âWhen our crews arrived, they saw smoke showing from a room on the first floor. It was a room used for storage, with 10 to 15 mattresses,â Cremer said. âThey had the fire under control in 10 to 15 minutes.
âThey put out the fire and took the mattresses outside. They just isolated the room, shut the power off. We were there about three hoursâ
Cremer said that because the incident occurred close to hotel check-out time at 11 a.m. and many guests check out electronically and just leave their keys to their rooms in the rooms, it was difficult to determine how many guests had to be evacuated.
