The Ferrari 308 is a classic in more ways than one. Yes, it's a design that automatically screams Ferrari, but it's also a touchstone of the 1980s. It was so moving for Gian Luca Maggiore that he's built his own radical and yet tasteful line of 308s. At L'Automobile Show 2021, Maggiore gave autoevolution a personal tour of his masterpiece.
Replicas of famous cars are usually born for two reasons. Either the original model is scarce and difficult to get, or it's more widely available but too expensive for the average Joe. The Shelby Cobra, for instance, falls in the former category, with the original cars heavily outnumbered by replicas. Some Ferraris, on the other hand, are replicated mostly because they're way too expensive.

Times are about to change (the Ferrari Purosangue is coming), but a sporty crossover would have been considered a sort of blasphemy during Enzo Ferrari’s life. However, the autocratic founder of the brand from Maranello did not hate sedans. He was adamant in believing that Ferrari, as a manufacturer of exclusive sports cars, should never produce automobiles with more than two doors. After all, il Commendatore had his reasons. 4 photos
The growth of the market for fast luxury sedans was a clear trend during the late sixties and early seventies. Maserati had entered the segment, Alfa Romeo and BMW joined it later, and even at Ferrari, there were opinions saying this opportunity should not be ignored. Drawings of a Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 with four doors confirm this.
