OPL 245: Documents admitted by Italian court against me not authentic, Adoke alleges

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Mr Mohammed Adoke (SAN), has alleged that an e-mail admitted by an Italian Court against him is not authentic.
In a statement he issued through his lawyer, Mr Femi Oboro of Gromyco Amedu solicitors, London, the ex-minister stated that the campaign against him that the document is the “proof” that he had a close relationship with Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, who is on trial in Milan along with Shell and ENI in the Milan Court, was preposterous.
In the release tagged: “Re: Italian Court Accepts Email Evidence against Adoke”, the senior lawyer noted that he could not have sent an email through another person’s account, adding that he was no longer a minister at the time the purported email was allegedly sent. ....

A Milan court on Wednesday accepted evidence sourced from U.S. banking giant JP Morgan as part of the Malabu OPL 245 corruption trial.
The court also accepted evidence of an email allegedly sent by a former Nigerian attorney general, Bello Adoke, from the email address of a company allegedly owned by a “middleman” named in the controversial deal, Abubakar Aliyu.
PREMIUM TIMES understands that despite opposition by the oil companies at the last sitting of the court, the Milan court accepted the evidence, acquired by Milan prosecutors from UK authorities. ....

Lawyers: E-mail evidence tendered against Adoke in Italy was forged

The attention of our client Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has been drawn to the decision of the Milan Court on Wednesday to accept as “new evidence” an email purportedly sent by our client from the email address of AgroupProperties, said to belong to Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar, in respect of the OPL 245 transaction of 2011. According to the campaigners, this is the “proof” that our client had a close relationship with Alhaji Abubakar, who is on trial in Milan along with Shell and ENI in the Milan Court. ....
