Gerard O Dwyer and artist Rita Karagelinian worked together on the portrait, called Conversations with a leading man , which they delivered together to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Ms Karagelinian said the title and painting captured Mr O’Dwyer’s active lifestyle. “I feel like there s a bit of sparkle in this portrait of Gerard as well as a lot of determination drive and passion,” she told SBS News. She said she admires the actor’s clear speech and ability to connect with people. ....

Mr Shah is among hundreds of exhibitors returning to the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year after it was cancelled in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions at a cost of $10 million. It was only the third cancellation in the show s almost 200-year history. For many rural producers, farmers and breeders, the show is the most important event in the calendar, and unique food offerings like Mr Shah s are a big attraction for many of the 60,000 ticket holders allowed in each day under COVIDsafe guidelines. ....

When Dr Khairil Musa went to Yemen with humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières in May last year, he found the response to the pandemic in Yemen was very different from Australia. “There wasn’t any social distancing, isolation, contact tracing; all these things just didn’t exist there,” he told SBS News. Equipment that Dr Musa took for granted in Sydney was in short supply in Yemen. It was hard to get personal protective equipment, drugs, ventilators and oxygen. The oxygen the hospital did have wasn’t reliable. ....
