Community College Picks Next President Bucks County Community College has named its next president. Dr. Felicia L. Ganther will replace current community college President Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt come July 1 when she retires. Ganther, a native of Los Angeles who has a doctorate degree in community resources and development from Arizona State University and a law degree from University of Illinois at Chicago’s John Marshall Law School, was selected unanimously by the Bucks County Community College Board of Trustees. “Dr. Ganther has a remarkable record of accomplishments, both as an educator, administrator, and as a strong advocate for students. She has extensive experience in crisis management, retention initiatives, student life, strategic planning and academic quality improvement,” according to a statement from the trustees ....

Ganther s three-year contract begins July 1. Ganther will replace retiring president Stephanie Shanblatt, and will work with her on the transition over the next few months. She will become the fifth president in the college’s 57-year history. The college currently has about 7,000 students enrolled and an annual budget of more than $83 million. ....

A 2020 high school graduate from Marin City, California, Williams had entered an after-school college prep program, Bridge the Gap, when he was in third grade. During high school, he took dual enrollment courses at the two-year College of Marin. Williams, who is now 18, had hoped to attend the college after graduation, transfer to a four-year school and eventually own a restaurant one day. The decline in first-time enrollment at community colleges was a staggering 21 percent with Black, Hispanic and Native American first-year students recording even steeper drops, between 28 and 29 percent. ....
