Manawatū reporter09:16, May 28 2021 David Unwin/Stuff The Manawatū ki Porirua Waitangi Tribunal hearings move to Feilding next week. It will be the sixth week of the Manawatū ki Porirua Waitangi inquiry, which is part of the overall Ngāti Raukawa Treaty claim on the historical purchase of thousands of hectares of land from Manawatū to Kāpiti. Ngāti Raukawa claims the historical sale of the Rangitīkei-Manawatū block was not done legitimately. The last session was in Te Awahou (Foxton) in April and now the hearings move to the Feilding Civic Centre on Monday and will run to Friday. The event is open to the public. ....
Competition organiser and Halcombe school teacher Margot Mackie said every year was exciting. “There are 100 questions, each one different every year. it’s great to see so many children loving books, especially with how much technology is available.” She said the quiz was a great way for students who weren t “sporty to shine. This year marked 30 years of the international competition, run by quiz founder and retired Auckland University lecturer Wayne Mills. Usually pupils competed for the chance to be the world Kids’ Lit champion, but since the spread of Covid-19, the furtherest they could go was the national competition in Wellington. ....
