Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to distribute bottled water on Friday February 19 - 3 pm to 6 pm at West-Cal Events Center KATC and last updated 2021-02-19 15:14:48-05 Free bottled water will be provided to residents of Calcasieu Parish on Friday in response to water shortages and boil advisories caused by cold weather. The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and volunteers from the American Red Cross will give away free bottled water at the West-Cal Events Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, February 19. Officials say volunteers at the drive-through site will give one case of bottled water per vehicle. âThis is a great example of our staff and local volunteers uniting to meet community needs in a crisis,â said Calcasieu Parish Police Jury President Brian Abshire. âOn behalf of the entire Jury, we thank everyone involved in this great effort.â ....

Cleco restores power to nearly 33,000 customers affected by winter storms Cleco and last updated 2021-02-19 21:18:07-05 As of 8 p.m. today, Cleco has restored power to nearly 33,000 of the roughly 43,000 customers who lost power after a second winter storm hit Clecoâs service territory within the same week. âWeâre making progress,â said James Lass, director of distribution and emergency management. âOur crews are patrolling lines and making repairs as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to our remaining customers.â Clecoâs damage assessments indicate that power outages from the second winter storm were primarily due to the accumulation of ice. ....

Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna have each promised to deliver 200 million doses to the US by the end of May, for a total of 400 million doses.
