Here are 20 Restaurants People in Temple Wish Would Come to Town
Back on April 30, 2021, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver s stood.
This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article). There s already a Dutch Bros in Killeen, and they re looking to open even more locations in the Central Texas region.
So now we know what will go in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple s population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I d never even heard of.
For a while there, it almost seemed like the old, abandoned Fazoli s on HK Dodgen Loop would be a permanent fixture in our town. I ve always thought it was a great location and wondered why no one snatched it up.
Well, someone finally has, and it s a place that you re already familiar with.
McAlister s Deli will move into the property this Sunday, March 14.
For the past 19 years, McAlister s has been at the opposite end of the Temple Towne Center shopping strip. Before the pandemic, a co-worker and I went there at least twice a week for lunch, and I still get them delivered occasionally.
