As efforts to guarantee podium performance of Team Nigeria at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gathers momentum, two of Nigeira’s top table tennis players – Aruna Quadri and Funke Oshonaike were yesterday in Lagos adopted by the SIFAX group.
The announcement came after a meeting with the Chairman of the Sifax Group and the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare.
Two members of Team Nigeria, Funke Oshonaike and Aruna Quadri, were adopted under the Adopt-an-Athlete initiative of the Ministry, by Sifax Group.
The two athletes were adopted to support their preparations towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
With the adoption of the two elite athletes, the total number of Team Nigeria athletes adopted under the Adoption initiative of FMYSD, has risen to 18. ....

Team Nigeria’s women 4x400m relay team will be among the 16 nations that will file out for the event at the delayed 2020 Olympics Games in Tokyo, Japan after the team scorched to a 3:26.84 African lead yesterday at the Lagos Open Athletics Championship in Lagos.
The team, anchored by Patience Okon-George has now jumped to the front of the queue for the four available slots on offer for the event in Tokyo.
The quartet of World U-18 fastest girl so far this year, Imaobong Nse Uko, NCAA 200m finalist Favour Ofili, Knowledge Omovoh and Okon-George is now ranked 13th in the ranking for the best 16 nations that will be in Tokyo ahead of Belarus (3:28.14), Australia (3:28.64) and Switzerland (3:28.77) who have all provisionally qualified. ....

The trial of the immediate past Chairperson of Kwara State Scholarship Board, Fatima Yusuf, and two others over N100 million Kwara bursary scam, has been adjourned due to the absence of Yusuf s lawyer, Y.O. Ahmed, in court.
The court adjourned the case to January 26 due to the absence of the counsel to the first defendant.
