WASHINGTON Eighteen Washington liquor license holders are getting a financial break from the city when they most need it.
They won t have to pay for their license when they renew it for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
They can thank Lori Peifer, owner of Lori s Kitchen Store, for the city s gesture.
Peifer has a BYOB (bring your own beer and wine) license from the city for cooking classes held at her store. The license cost her $350 for the 2020-21 fiscal year, which began May 1 and will continue through April 30.
During normal times, Peifer holds about two cooking classes a week. Because she s abided by the state s COVID-19 restrictions and closures, she said, she s had only 23 classes this fiscal year.
