'Suspicion' over Farleigh truck stop prompts council action

The action comes after the council received a petition with the signatures of about 70 residents stating their opposition to a truck depot being built at 4 Christoe St at Farleigh.
Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson said the council had not received a development application for the truck stop.
There s just land filling going on (at the site) at the moment, which we have stopped until we get a proper DA, Cr Williamson said.
There is a lot of suspicion that the site may have intent to be used for something else.
We have nothing to go on yet because there s no DA. ....

Going fast. the stimulus dollars are there, and it s still going to be a long time before all those jobs are created. all right, but if it ever hams, i might come back to new york, steve, because penn station, while it s dear to my heart, is a bit of a mess. it really is. it s a terrible station as far as how it s able to handle the capacity. over the years, you know, the number of people coming through penn station, the commuters, the people on amtrak, has grown dramatically and there just are not enough entrances and exits to handle all those people. it s dimly lit. the ceilings are very low, and in the end there s the larger project, phase two, that will create a really big, grand rail hall, a waiting room, with a glass atrium at the farleigh post office station across the street. but there s a lot to be done to make it a reality. it will cost $1.5 billion, if not more, over time. this is just phase one, creating a few more entrances and exits and expanding the access to the ....
