Prisoner jumps 60 feet below to escape; arrested three days later Photo: Star A prisoner had jumped 60 feet below the four-storeyed under construction building of Chattogram Central Jail on Saturday morning. Following the jump, he sustained injuries to his left feet and head, but still managed to board a train, before finally being apprehended three days later from Narsingdi district today. After the arrest, the murder case accused, Farhad Hossain Rubel, narrated his escape plan to the cops which surprised the police and prison officials. Addressing a press conference at Kotwali police station premises, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (South Zone) Palash Kanti Nath said, Inmate Farhad Hossain Rubel jumped off the building, known as 32 Cell building , and landed on the other side of the boundary wall. ....

Two prison guards of the jail were also suspended in this connection. The withdrawn jailer, Rafiqul Islam, was attached to the headquarters of the Department of Prisons.
