Odisha registers 6,097 fresh coronavirus cases, 44 more fatalities

Odisha s COVID-19 caseload mounted to 8,37,226 on Thursday as 6,097 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said. Forty-four fresh fatalities pushed the coronavirus death toll in the state to 3,167, he said. Of the new cases, 3,446 were reported from quarantine centres and 2,651 were detected during contact tracing. Khurda district, which comprises the state capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest number of fresh cases at 1,017, followed by Cuttack (647) and Jajpur (434). The remaining cases were registered in several other districts. Taking to Twitter, the Health and Family Welfare Department said, Regret to inform the demise of forty-four COVID patients, while under treatment in hospitals.

Bengaluru: State govt decides to upgrade all 2,359 PHCs; CM promises more funds   Thu, Dec 24 2020 02:42:09 PM From Our Special Correspondent Daijiworld Media Network Bengaluru, Dec 24: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday announced the State Government’s decision to upgrade all the 2,359 primary health centres (PHCs) and promised to allocate more funds for the purpose in the coming budget. The Chief Minister held at meeting on the upgradation of all PHCs in his Home Office, Krishna, in which Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar was also present. Yediyurappa said the State Government has decided to provide well-equipped buildings to house the PHCs and also upgrade their bed strength to 12 or 20 besides providing necessary staff.
