DORSET â A Burr and Burton Academy student has been appointed to a statewide commission working to prevent her younger peers from interacting with the juvenile justice system.
Julia Brand of Dorset, a junior at BBA, is a member of the Children and Family Council for Prevention Programs, a commission operating within the state Department of Children and Families.
The commissionâs charge includes administering the Vermont Childrenâs Trust Fund, advising the governor and the legislature about the youth justice system, at-risk youth and prevention, and working to prevent young people from getting involved with the justice system.
