The Texas House has given an initial green light on three police reform measures, which are part of set legislation after the murder of George Floyd last year.
Texas law enforcement agencies would be required to implement more uniform and substantiative disciplinary measures for officer misconduct.
The police reform bills would also bar officers from arresting people for fine-only traffic offenses and require corroboration of undercover officer testimony, according to a Texas Tribune report.
State Rep. Senfronia Thompson said that disciplinary measure was about fairness and accountability.
Thompson was the lead author of the bills and the omnibus George Floyd Act.
Minnesota Attorney General (AG) Keith Ellison admitted that he felt a little bad for the convicted former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin.
The lead prosecutor in Derek Chauvin s murder trial made the admission during his interview with CBS 60 Minutes on Sunday, New York Post reported.
When asked about his reaction to the guilty verdict last week, he said he was grateful, humbled, and with a certain sense of, I ll say satisfaction.
The Minnesota AG then added: I spent 16 years as a criminal defense lawyer, so, I will admit, I felt a little bad for the defendant. I think he deserved to be convicted. But he s a human being.

Dr. Martin Tobin argued that the lack of oxygen claimed the life of the victim of police brutality. It can be remembered that Floyd died after Chauvin pressed his knees on the neck of the victim against a pavement.
Tobin s emphatic defense for Floyd happened on Chauvin s murder trial on Thursday, according to a Fox News report. Tobin rejected the claims of the defendant that Floyd died due to drugs and his underlying health condition.
