When Kyle Denning left his downtown condo on morning walks, he saw more than blue skies, palm trees, the colorful trolley and the patchwork quilt of boats in the harbor.
He saw the man sitting on a paint can with a guitar he couldn’t play, the young woman hiding under a hoodie hugging her small dog, the fellow in a Marines cap with immense sadness in this eyes, the despondent man in a wheelchair by Petco Park.
He saw the homeless of San Diego and transients with backpacks passing through. He saw gentle souls that most people look away from and ignore. He saw frustration and despair, but he also saw resignation, resilience and acceptance.
