There s a lot to be said for having fun traditions. Especially those traditions that can be enjoyed by families and communities year in and year out. Keeping a tradition can foster a sense of belonging. It gives us something to look forward to sharing together.
One such Yakima Valley tradition is the Central Washington State Fair. There are very few things that take us all the way back into two previous centuries as does the fair. The first one was held in 1892, just three years after Washington became a state!
This past year has been a very big challenge, in so many ways, dealing with the pandemic and the havoc wrought by shutdowns and social distancing and all that changed our daily lives. The 2020 Central Washington State Fair was canceled, and boy did we all miss it.
