Help yourself: Buffets to reopen in Memphis restaurants on April 17

Buffets can reopen, but with a few Covid-19 safety restrictions in place.
Customers will have to sanitize their hands prior to and after serving. Restaurants are to have sanitizing station close to each buffet. Guests will also have to observe social distancing in the buffet area – that means six feet in between each guest.
Guests will also have to wear a mask. Joan Carr, spokewoman for the Shelby County Health Department, reminds that as per Face Mask Directive 5, customers should wear masks everywhere in the restaurant except when seated at a table actively eating and drinking.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. The Shelby County Health Department issued Health Directive No. 19 today to go into effect at midnight on March 20th. Health Directive No. 19 further lifts restrictions on businesses, particularly restaurants that serve the public. It is accompanied by Face Mask Directive No. 5, which clarifies and updates guidance about mask usage in certain public settings.
Key changes in Health Directive No. 19:
Increase in number of people at tables to 8 instead of 6.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. The Shelby County Health Department has released a new Safer at Home order as COVID-19 cases are rapidly growing in Shelby County.
SCHD released the following summary on how to keep the public safe:
· During the four weeks from December 26, 2020 to January 22, 2021, residents of Shelby County are asked to remain home as much as possible.
· Retail capacity decreased to 50%
