Israeli, Palestinian ambassadors to speak at online University webinar


Ambassadors representing Israel and Palestine will both speak at an online webinar that will focus on ongoing tensions in the Middle East. 
The event, ‘Israel and Palestine: Ongoing Conflict and Prospects for Peace’ will be held via zoom on Thursday 27 May and will start at 7.00pm.
Both Ambassador of Israel to Malta, Eyal Sela, and the Ambassador of Palestine to Malta, Fadi Hanania, will be part of the event, which is organised by the University of Malta International Relations Alumni Association (UoM IRAA). 
The association is made up of former students of the University of Malta’s Department of International Relations. ....

With the outbreak of the civil war in Syria ten years ago, Israel began admitting wounded Syrian nationals for humanitarian medical treatment. The IDF medical corps and hospitals in northern Israel have since provided medical treatment to thousands of wounded Syrians. The logistics of evacuating the injured from the battlefield and transferring them to Israeli territory was often prolonged because Israel and Syria are enemies.
Most of the wounded were brought to the Galilee Medical Center (GMC) in northern Israel. Some were admitted within 24 hours of their injury. For others, it took as long as 14 to 28 days to reach Israel from the combat zone. ....

Stopping the spread of COVID-19 is difficult enough. It s even more complicated and confusing when information and resources provided by governments are largely inaccessible to a variety of disabled populations. A newly-published global survey of national health authority websites in nearly 200 countries has directly quantified COVID-19 information accessibility.
The survey, published on January 27, 2021 in the journal
Frontiers in Medicine, was conducted by researchers and medical professionals from Bar-Ilan University s Azrieli Faculty of Medicine, the Galilee Medical Center and Tel Aviv University.
The researchers utilized universal accessibility criteria written by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), to determine what percentage of national health authority websites fully implemented accessibility principles of the WAI, a global organization seeking to improve website accessibility.
