it s july 25, 2010 in marshall, michigan, then out of nowhere, boom, an oil pipeline bursts, sending hundreds of thousands of crude oil everywhere. including into the nearby kalamazoo river. the oil company that owns the pipeline does nothing for close to 18 hours. and the oil keeps spewing all that time. the oil spill forces evacuations of all the local residents, compromises the drinking water in the area and now, nearly three years later, the oil company responsible for the spill is still trying to clean up all the oil. almost three years later, there is still oil in the kalamazoo river. that was july 2010. one year later, it s july 1st, 2011. nearing midnight in the city of laurel, montana.
