The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mustapha Shehuri, has said that 27,000 unemployed Youths and women will benefit from the Extended Special Public Works Programme (ESPWs).
Chief Information Officer of the ministry, Mr Ezeaja Ikemefuna, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Shehuri said the ESPWs is of the National Directorate of Employment across the 27 Local Government Areas( LGA) of Borno.
He said the initiative is aimed at cushioning the economic effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic, creating jobs and promoting the maintenance of critical infrastructure at the community levels in all the 774 LGAs across the country. ....

Obaseki inaugurates 18,000 Extended Special Public Jobs programme in Edo

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inaugurated the Federal Government’s 18,000 Extended Special Public Works Programme (ESPWP) for youths in rural areas across the state.
The Extended Special Public Works Programme is an initiative of the Federal Government to empower 774,000 unemployed youths across the 774 Local Government Areas in the country.
The governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Government House and Protocol, Mrs. Julie Olatunji, reiterated the commitment of the state government to support initiatives that would empower more youths in the state.
Noting that youth empowerment remains topmost priority for the state government, he said: “We have promised that more than 50 per cent of the youths will make up our new cabinet and we are committed to that. We have done a lot of programmes to empower youths, while other programmes are still ongoing to give others opportunity to be gainfully employed and emp ....

Nigerian government begins extended public works programme in Zamfara

The Federal Government has started distribution of working equipment under the Extended Special Public Works Programme in Zamfara, to boost the economy and create jobs.
Mr Ahmad Yandi, Chairman, State Selection Committee, Extended Special Public Works Programme, spoke during the distribution of the working tools on Saturday in Gusau.
Tandi said that the programme would add N46 billion into Nigeria’s economy and that would provide the necessary economic palliatives to the unemployed youths.
He said that participants who are diligent during the implementation of the project would develop knowledge and skills required to become self employed.
“It is my belief that the benefit and impact of the programme will continue to linger in the mind of citizens of the state and Nigerians at large”. ....
