Ministry continues to address issues affecting lifeguards
Port of Spain: Over the past several months meetings have been held between senior management of the Ministry of National Security and the Lifeguard Services Division, aimed at bringing about reasonable and cost-effective resolutions to matters affecting our nation’s lifeguards.
The Ministry continues to work with the Lifeguard Services Division in order to provide them with the requisite capacity and capability, to keep our country’s beaches safe for beachgoers and sea bathers alike.
To date the Ministry has:
Begun the procurement process to repair the Lifeguard Facilities Buildings and Towers at Mayaro, Toco, Salybia and Quinam, which fall under the purview of the Ministry of National Security. ....

FOR six minutes, she was dead .
Minutes where Faith Leiataua, 3, lay lifeless with no pulse or breath after she was pulled unconscious from the water at the Newmarket Olympic Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Minutes between when her mother, Easter Leiataua, was watching her happily playing in the water to then screaming for her daughter s life after she nearly drowned just before 5pm.
But those were the six critical minutes in which heroic bystanders, including an off-duty doctor and nurse, brought Faith back to life in an extraordinary story of survival.
