Philip Chapman 1935-2021
Some people know from an early age what they want to do in life. Philip Kenyon Chapman was one of those, turning his childhood fascination with space exploration into reality when, in 1967, he became the first Australian-born person to be selected as a NASA astronaut.

Born in Melbourne on March 4, 1935, Philip Chapman was the son of Colin Robison Chapman, a journalist, and his wife Phyllis (née Kenyon). When Philip was four-years-old, his father’s work drew the family to Sydney, where they lived in Mosman.
