Over the course of the day Friday, police confirmed the identity of the gunman, a 19-year-old former employee, at the FedEx Ground station on the southwest side of the city. The gunman was found dead in what is believed to be a suicide nearby, police said. ....

Suspect in FedEx shooting identified as 19-year-old man

The cause of death for each of the eight victims will be determined once the coroner’s office completes the autopsies, IMPD said. Police did not name the others who were injured.

At least four of those who died in the shooting at the FedEx facility were members of the Sikh community in Indianapolis, according to the Sikh Coalition.
Police have not yet identified the victims, and they have not yet said whether bias is a factor in the gunman s motive.

He said his family would not be interviewed at the time, but shared that they are undergoing trauma after the incident.
We are still working to identify others who were injured and killed on Thursday night, the grandson wrote. I have several family members who work at the particular facility and are traumatized. My nani, my family and our families should not feel unsafe at work, at their place of worship, or anywhere. Enough is enough our community has been through enough trauma.
According to her grandson s Twitter, Johal, 66, was planning to work a double shift Thursday so she could take Friday off. She later decided to grab her check and go home. He said she still had her check in her hand when they found her. ....

IMPD said the coroner s office will determine the causes of death after autopsies are complete.
A spokesman for the Sikh Coalition said in a statement Friday afternoon that the group was deeply saddened that members of the religion were among those killed. Coalition Executive Director Satjeet Kaur said in a statement that authorities
are still determining whether the shooter targeted victims because of their beliefs.
Our hearts and prayers are with their families, and we are in touch with community leaders, government and law enforcement officials to learn more, Kaur wrote in the statement. While we don’t yet know the motive or identity of the shooter, we expect that authorities will continue to conduct a full investigation including the possibility of bias as a factor. ....

FedEx shooting: 8 victims, suspect named; motive unknown

INDIANAPOLIS Police on Friday night named the eight victims, ranging in age from 19 to 74, who were killed when a gunman carried out the country s latest mass shooting at a FedEx facility, his former place of employment.
Police responded to the FedEx Ground facility on the city s southwest side just after 11 p.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired at a business. Police encountered a very chaotic and active crime scene after a gunman fired at random both inside and outside the facility, Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt said at a news conference Friday.
Later Friday, McCartt identified the suspect as 19-year-old Brandon Hole of Indiana and said FedEx officials have confirmed Hole was a former employee who last worked at the facility in 2020. A motive for the shooting is not yet known, McCartt said. ....
