The Union Education Ministry has asked all centrally-funded educational institutions to postpone their offline examinations scheduled for May. The decision is likely to affect entrance examinations that were to be conducted for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and central universities (CUs).
In a letter to all such educational institutions, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare urged to delay the offline examinations in May. He further clarified that online examinations may continue as planned. ....

Due to second COVID wave, the Ministry of Education asked the heads of centrally funded institutions to postpone all offline exams scheduled in May.

Due to the second wave of COVID-19, the Ministry of Education on Monday asked all the heads of centrally funded institutions to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May. Such institutions include all IITs, NITs, IIITs and central universities.
In a letter addressed to all the heads of centrally funded institutions, Secretary, Higher Education Amit Khare has urged the institutions to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May 2021. The online examinations may however continue, he said. ....

(VTU) has clarified that there is a need to complete the exams for the first-semester undergraduate engineering students so that the even semester classes for these students will commence on time. Moreover, the even semester classes would begin on May 19, 2021.
With all precautions and safety measures in place, the first-semester examination will be conducted as per the schedule notified. ....
