Police have been given more time to question a man arrested in connection with the death of PCSO Julia James. A man in his 20s from the Canterbury area was arrested at 9.30pm on Friday. Kent Police have been granted a 36-hour extension to his detention. Ms James, a popular community support officer, was found dead in Akholt Wood near her home in Snowdown, Kent, on April 27. She was attacked while walking her beloved Jack Russell Toby, who stayed.

Police have tested murdered PCSO colleague Julia James’s dog for any vital DNA evidence left behind from her killer, officers have revealed.
It came as detectives investigating the murder released a photo of her walking her beloved Jack Russell Toby in the clothes she was last seen wearing.
The mother-of-two, 53, is pictured walking while wearing a bright blue raincoat, blue jeans and dark brown wellies.
She had been working at home that day before taking a walk towards Akholt Wood in Snowdown, Kent.

The daughter of Julia James is urging the nation to light a candle on their doorstep on Tuesday night in a “beautiful nod” to the PCSO.
Bethan Coles invited people to place a candle on their doorsteps at 7pm.
Kent Police confirmed they are “not on the verge of announcing any arrests” as murder detectives launch a fresh appeal for information.
Despite seven days of investigating, the force has reported no suspects or murder weapon while Julia’s killer remains at large.
