City-School Liaison Committee discusses support for health and safety

The Evanston City-School Liaison Committee discussed emergency preparedness strategies and the implementation of wraparound services at its meeting Thursday.  The committee consists of Board of Education members from Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Evanston Township High School District 202, as well as three Evanston city councilmembers. Savings for Success supports local elementary students

In 2018, YWCA Evanston/North Shore and the Evanston Community Foundation began creating college savings accounts and providing financial support for children participating in a pilot program aptly named Savings for Success.  The groups initially partnered with parents at Community Organizing and Family Issues before contacting pre-K programs and childcare centers.  Savings for Success began offering.

Oakton College partners with Evanston organizations to create ESL early childhood education pilot program

Oakton College recently partnered with several Evanston organizations to create a pilot program that combines English as a second language and early childhood education training. The program aims to address a workforce shortage of early childhood educators and a community need for ESL and job training.  Beginning in summer 2023, participants began receiving ESL training.

District 202 board approves budget, discusses diversity and equity in staff and multilingual students
