Jim Dixon, national Unifor representative, said talks have stalled over concessions Ocean wants in the next contract. Dixon said the employer has offered a three-year deal with no wage increase in the first year, a one per cent hike in year two and 1.5 per cent in year three. However, he said Ocean Concrete wants rollbacks on other issues that would more than cover the cost of wage increases. “The concession would amount to more than [the wage increase],” Dixon said, noting the two sides were at the bargaining table Tuesday, but left without setting a new date for talks.
