Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolia’s management of public finances has improved, but further reforms are needed in some areas to achieve international best practice standards, a recent World Bank assessment finds.
UNDP Mongolia in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance, Labor and Social Protection, and Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry as well as all Local Governor’s offices organized a virtual workshop on “Bridging Policies with Budgets” on October 6-8 within the framework of the European Union funded “SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia” project.

webinar on “Logistics & Connectivity with Europe” was held on June 29.
2021. Now, a regular event, the webinar aimed to expose, analyse and provide
potential solutions for challenges to trading with Europe.
For the past several months Mongolia’s trade
has been strongly affected by delays in container shipments from China. This
includes transit goods originating in Europe. The crisis culminated with
attempts by Cosco to appoint an exclusive agent to represent its business
interests in Mongolia. Cosco, the Chinese government-controlled transportation
& logistics conglomerate controls all the sea-freight delivered by railway
throughout China, including the one to Mongolia. Prior to the appointment

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The construction sector is
dominated by men, not only in Mongolia but also in countries throughout the
world. Even in an advanced economy like the US, women consist of less than 1% of construction
workers on the jobsite.
Here at the EU Funded Switch Off Air Pollution Project (SOAP), we’re
working to redefine the role of women in the construction sector by working
with jobsite team leaders, locally known as brigade leaders, to break outdated
gender norms and help them find the best construction workers, regardless of
sex. But we’re also training women to join the booming construction sector.
