European Parliament's participation in the Porto Social Summit

EP President David Sassoli, Employment Committee Chair Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová (ECR, SK) and several other MEPs will participate in the Porto Social Summit on 7 May.
The Porto Summit, organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council, will give political impetus to the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan. The Social Summit’s first event will be a high-level conference to discuss how to reinvigorate the European Social Model and put the principles of the Pillar into action to benefit EU citizens.
Parliament played an important role in preparing the Action Plan by adopting its report on “A strong social Europe for Just transitions” last year. Rapporteurs Dennis Radtke (EPP, DE) and Agnes Jongerius (S&D, NL) will present Parliament’s position on the panel on work and employment. ....

A joint letter of Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar and his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva has been published in today’s edition of the Delo newspaper, in which they discuss the objectives of their countries’ EU Council Presidencies. The entire letter is available below.
