U odgovoru na europsku građansku inicijativu „End the Cage Age” (Okončajmo upotrebu kaveza), Europska komisija se obvezuje kako će do 2023. podnijeti zakonodavni prijedlog za postupno ukidanje i konačnu zabranu upotrebe sustava kaveza za uzgoj životinja. Prijedlog će biti dio aktualne revizije zakonodavstva o dobrobiti životinja u okviru strategije „od polja do stola”.
Europska građanska inicijativa „Okončajmo upotrebu kaveza”, pokrenuta u rujnu 2018., godinu kasnije imala je gotovo 1,4 milijuna potpisa građana EU-a iz 18 zemalja kojima je tražena zabrana uzgoja životinja u kavezima. Bila je to prva valjana europska građanska inicijativa na temu životinja iz uzgoja i še ....
