碳化硅器件的爆发离不开下游需求的持续扩张，终端厂商正积极导入。碳化硅材料和器件的优异性能市场早有认识，但是近几年才逐步形成产业规模，除了因为技术的成熟外，下游应用端对更高性能器件有着迫切的需求，也促使各下游积极验证和导入碳化硅产品。
产业链各环节产能增长，但供给仍然不足。据 CASA 数据显示，SiC 电力电子方面，SiC 导电型衬底折算 4英寸产能约为 40 万片/年，SiC-on-SiC 外延片（表示在碳化硅衬底上沉积碳化硅）折算 6 英寸产能约为 22万片/年，SiC-on-SiC 器件/模块（4/6 英寸兼容）产能约 26 万片/年。
微波射频方面，SiC 半绝缘衬底折算4 英寸产能约为 18 万片/年。2020 年，新能源汽车、快充、5G 等下游应用市场增长超预期，国内现有产品商业化供给无法满足市场需求，SiC 电力电子和射频存在较大缺口。
