Agreed to a ceasefire proposal, put forward by egypt and qatar. The news sparked celebration in gaza, but it may be premature. The israelis are saying tonight the deal is not acceptable because they had agreed with The Americans as far back as february a deal that has now been softened. What we know about this proposal is that it sets out a three stage process each lasting 42 days. The first would lead to the release of 33 hostages, in return for Palestinian Prisoners, and a partial israeli withdrawal. The second would lead to the release of all other living hostages, there are thought to be 128 still alive. And the third phase would see a return of the bodies. The Israeli Defence minister said this morning that the decision to expand the assault on rafah had been taken because hamas had rejected their ceasefire terms. So this has come as a surprise to the government injerusalem. Lets cross straight to our security correspondent Frank Gardner whos injerusalem. Frank, bring us up to spe

He needs to take us out of the European Convention on human rights. Thats how you actually send i the message that hes serious about stopping the boats. And while some are urging mr sunak to change position, others in the Conservative Party are clear that their best chance is to stay firmly in the centre ground. So while any imminent threat to eject mr sunak from here seems to have gone away, the long term pressure on him to change conservative fortunes has not. For labour, this week holds a very different
From where i am now. For me, actually, im not doing anything for now. Im so confused. Just to be honest, i have no place to go. This was the last place i know. And actually, if i want to come back to khan yunis, there is no place. Its all destroyed. The areas are crowded and i cannot anymore live inside tent, its so hot and my health does not allow for me to be in such situation. Regarding other areas, still there is a lot of airstrikes there. Ive been there and its very dangerous areas. Earlier i spoke to daniel levy, the president of the Us Middle East project and former israeli peace negotiator. I asked him what he thought Benjamin Netanyahus endgame was. I think it is really hard to speak in terms of endgame, because the preponderance of analysis and opinion which i would align with is that netanyahu wants this to be a long war. People have talked in terms of the forever war. Netanyahu is not looking forward to the morning after, not politically, not in terms of the investigations,
