France Opens Privacy Probe Into Audio App Clubhouse Country’s data privacy watchdog to determine whether application’s publisher complies with EU’s data protection regulation. France s data privacy watchdog has launched an investigation into Clubhouse, a US-based audio chat app. The National Commission for Informatics and Liberties said it opened an investigation on March 12, after receiving complaints to verify if the application s publisher Alpha Exploration had taken steps to comply with the EU s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 
 The regulation, enforced in May 2018, aims to ensure any organization, even if not based in the EU but processing the personal data or offering goods or services to EU citizens or residents, must adhere to data protection principles like consent and data portability. ....
