A winning streak extended to 11 games, pitchers took to the field as position players, a player sang the national anthem and a home run record fell as the season started to wind down for the Humboldt Crabs. The week started off with a glorious Tuesday night at the ballpark, featuring a sunset straight out of a classic baseball movie and home runs courtesy of the Crabs Ethan Fischel and Gabe Giosso on the way to a 15-2 victory over the visiting Prescott Roadrunners. Once again, the Crabs took a convincing win behind reliable pitching backed up by the strength of their bats. Adam Walker started the game for the Crabs, striking out 10 batters and giving up just two runs while Fischel and Giosso powered in eight combined runs for the team.

The team started off the week hosting the Redding Tigers once again at Arcata Ballpark for a two-game set. After sweeping the Tigers during their first trip to Humboldt, the Crabs looked set to keep that winning record going without trouble, and were leading by six runs going into the top of the ninth inning. That’s when things got more interesting than the Crabs might have hoped for, as the Tigers roared back to score six runs on the inning to tie up the score at 8-8.
Posted By Thomas Lal on Mon, Jul 19, 2021 at 5:58 PM The Crabs might have lost their nine-game winning streak on Saturday against the West Coast Kings but that didn’t stop them from enjoying a well earned series win against the visitors on Sunday behind a shutdown performance from starting pitcher Owen Stevenson.
