Richland County Foundation Funds Splash Pads - Johns Park, North Lake Park

MANSFIELD – The Richland County Foundation Board of Trustees approved $474,670 in grants during its April board meeting.
Working in collaboration with the City of Mansfield, the Foundation approved grants for splash pads in Johns Park and North Lake Park. The project is supported by three funds at the Foundation: the unrestricted/community fund, Robert and Esther Black Family Foundation Fund and the Fran and Warren Rupp Advised Fund.
The Foundation continues to support summertime programs focused on children. The Summertime Kids Committee Chaired by Foundation Board of Trustee member Jotika Shetty along with members from the community awarded 20 Summertime Kid grants. The grants of up to $2,500 were given to support creative, educational, and fun-filled activities for hundreds of local children. ....

Grants for splash pads at Johns, North Lake Park approved
Recreation areas could open in mid- to late summer
MANSFIELD - Grants for splash pads in Johns Park and North Lake Park have been approved by the Richland County Foundation.
With council approval, the recreation areas could open in mid- to late summer, according to Mark Abrams, superintendent of the parks and recreation department.
Abrams said city officials worked with the foundation for two months to bring the project to fruition, though installing splash pads in city parks has been a topic of discussion for quite some time.
Pads are a long time coming ....

Richland Newhope donates books to first graders
MANSFIELD - With the ongoing concerns of COVID-19, Richland Newhope was not able to celebrate March Awareness in the traditional manner. One of this year’s awareness activities included a book distribution to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month with the local schools.
Richland Newhope distributed a book about inclusion to public and private first-grade students in Richland County. With the help from Scholastic, Richland County Youth and Family Council and United Way’s Big Red Bookshelf, Newhope was able to distribute 1,400 copies of the book Strictly No Elephants, written by Lisa Mantchev. ....
