the witness tells us the hit- and-run driver hit and killed the boy here at this intersection around 6:15 tonight. a neighbor tells me he was out in front of his home watching his girlfriend back out of his driveway when he saw a sheriff s car with flashing lights chasing a four door sedan along east 18th street. he said the sedan ran a red light and estimated that it was speeding going about 40 to 50 miles per hour when he struck a boy holding a skateboard. just happened so fast. i really didn t pay much attention to the car because a sheriff officer was behind him so. what s your reaction? man, i was shocked. i couldn t believe it. reporter: the witness says the car got away but it appear it is driver was alone. just moments ago the alameda county coroner s office confirmed the boy did die here at the scene. and as well, we also checked in to see whether the driver has been arrested. we have no information on that at this point. we do have unconfirmed information
