there s one district that has gone kind of republican and democrat. he served that district and then he lost and he s back in. it seems like that s a very 50/50 district. how is it doing now? you could take a look here. you talk about not having much of the vote count. we have 39% counted. this is the central valley of california here. the republican incumbent leading the count so far. it s an interesting district. the presidential level, this went overwhelmingly for joe biden. but even as biden was winning it in 2020 by this marge, valadao was able to win his house seat back here. but this is another one, if democrats were able to in the late counted ballots here, if they were able to jump past valadao and get it, that s an essential thing for them as part of the math of getting to 218. this is the kind of district they would have to win in addition to pulling an upset in at least one of those seven that i just went through there.
but look what is happening with the food prices, charles. grocery prices, which are the other essential thing that people have to buy are much, much higher than they were even a few months ago. so when you add it up, you re talking about extra costs for families that i think are going to make it difficult for biden to sell this as an inflation reduction act. americans are not buying it. charles: the one thing that is intriguing, we have two disastrous data points. home builder data and manufacturing data from new york that might be a reason why gas prices have gone down. the timing is good to say hey, this is because of me, right? president biden can take a victory lap here but it could be premature. you know, obviously biden can only control some of the factors that go into prices. but he s helping. he released millions of barrels from the national reserves, worked to increase production domestically, called on congress to suspend the gas tax.
