So now scott is challenging the premise of the president s claims there. Of course hes going to lie about it but what i believe you have to do everything to preserve medicaid and Social Security. Make sure these are lasting programs. So, Congress Every year telling the American Public what they will do to make sure these programs survive. But the democrats, they will not have any conversation. For the last five days, the president s focus has been on maga republicans, but the whole cabinet gather today at the white house, he tried to swing things back towards the economy. And so, this economy works for the country from the bottom up and middle out as i said from the beginning, i am not a big fan of trickledown economics. I find the trickle stops fairly quickly coming down. One way to tell that we are for sure in the home stretch of the midterm campaign, white house officials are doing something that they usually do when trying to get their base really, really excited. According to rnc spokesman doug high, he tells me republicans should stick to those pocketbook issues because a new pew poll l shows 77 of registered voters think the economy is still the top voting issue this fall. It is clear though, abortion is energizing democratic voters, especially women and, neil. New york times analysis of Voter Registration in ten states showed scotus ruling, it really it really galvanized female voters. The biggest surge happening in kansas where more than 70 of the new voters there and the month after the Dobbs Decision were women. Here is dcc chair patrick maloney. I think they were about everybody feels the government is against each other and nothing is getting accomplished. So you have this huge group of people feel both parties have led them down. Republicans messaging has primarily been how bad things are with inflation. The problem there, most people know what they want to hear and that is a solution how to make it better. Meanwhile, democrats say they do make things will be okay but people dont feel it is okay. So they feel they are out of touch. What the democrats do have is a message on abortion. I think its important that republicans take this seriously because 65 of women are saying abortion is the number one issue to them. That is a really big deal because it was suburban women who put joe biden in the white house, and that is what happened midterm spirit i think what the republicans need to understand, this is not about women fighting for abortion but freedom. Most women say that this is about them with equal rights protections and freedoms. Many ways, the democrats are saying this is about masks and people not taking ab care of eah other and all of this but republicans say this is about fundamental rights that i shoulr myself. That is what is happening among women and republicans are missing the mark how to bring them in and say we will be the party of freedom. Neil i get all of that, lee, and more familiar with these mom and pocketbook issues. And they are aware of Gasoline Prices that have come down and almost Everything Else has not. They see it everyday at the grocery store. They see it every day they go out. I wonder how republicans play that and how they counter that. Well, there is no doubt about it the number one issue facing americans is the economy. 9 out of 10 americans feel worse today than they did three months ago. Poland gas prices will not change that, you are absolutely correct. But what republicans need to do in this moment not talk about how bad it is but how good it is if they were to take over. Because really at risk of not winning for senate. If i were in a visor of republicans, look three or five plan what you will do immediately should you win midterms that will make the economy better and be released back in the pockets of the american people. But the truth is, the prices that matter are already out there and on the store shelf and a red check. Those prices are not going to get better come november. So that story is done. That die is cast. I think the Biden Administration knows that which is why they are trying to change the story. They are trying to change the conversation. In the middle of that, the fed hiking rates a lot and endlessly, it seems. How does that play out . Think about that as a voter. You know your wages are keeping up with prices. That is not going to change anytime soon. Prices really are moderating, especially the ones people care about. Gas prices have come down, yeah, they are still really, really high. That is the preexisting problem. Now you are looking at Interest Rate hikes. You think about borrowing to buy something and you will see potentially two, big rate hikes from the fed before the election. That really starts to get people nervous. Because not just expensive to go Grocery Shopping but big ticket items that you might have differed on. That is not a good backdrop for democrats. I dont see them being able to turn that tide in the next two months putt which means they have to do what they are doing. They have to find Something Else to talk about. I just dont think that americans have the luxury of doing that. Frankly, they have to pay for the stuff day in and day out so that does matter when you get to the ballot box. Neil another thing, too, i dont know how your students react, but obviously they are aware of what is going on and they see the numbers and when they try to pay for things or parents try to pay for things, including their own education. Im just wondering how they react to all of this. But i am wondering how they are responding to this when you bring it up in class and they bring it up with you. Well, it hits them hard because College Students dont have a lot of money. Meaning doj cannot continue the investigation into donald trump right now. It is on pause. We are waiting to see if the department of justice appeals. A Doj Book Person tells fox news, looking over the judges order and will consider the next steps. Attorney, where is this going . I think because david just said, neil, it is going to the 11th circuit. Cant see them not appealing. The other thing that we should probably at least mention is that there is always the talk around this time of year before a big federal election 60 day rule, which is not really a rule from the foot of the guidance of the Justice Department to follow. But they try not to take public steps in cases that may have an impact on the elections because they dont like the perception of the Justice Department or Law Enforcement influencing the outcome of the election. So i would have expected them to try to go dark anyhow for the next two months, but we may now actually see more activity because of this court proceedings. Obviously, we will be weighing in on those. Neil but in the meantime, they cannot pursue this investigation until all of this is resolved, whether they lose an Appeals Court and the leaders running i mean, Special Master goes through things. If you are Donald Trumps legal team, what does that mean . Well, i think that is overstated because a court has no authority to tell the government what it can investigate. What the court has authority to do is to tell them they cant use documents that have been collected by the government through the courts process. It was a Search Warrant the authority of the government to use these documents appear that doesnt mean that other aspects of the investigation cant be pursued. Remember they had a vigorous investigation before the search. So, i think, you know, not a lot of going to happen. Lets face it, this is not the most complicated investigation of all time. I wouldnt expect a lot to happen in the next two months. Neil so, up it comes back to he had Government Documents and should not have had Government Documents, that its one thing. But of course, this escalated and as you were reminding he, when represented and lied about that and turns out you did have these documents appear than the legal team ultimately gave up the documents, that was it. No more documents when in fact, there were documents. There were a pattern of lies here intentional or not, given the government ample ground for an obstruction case. Neil, i think in a broader lens, it is kind of the same decision that they had to make when they decided to escalate to a Search Warrant, right . Neil right. They had the legal and factual grounds to go seek a Search Warrant, but there were no mike they were quite aware of ratcheting up like that would have a big impact on the public and the divisions in the country. Charging former President Trump would have by dimensions, i think, more of an impact. I think we are at the point in time where the Justice Department may think that they have a case they can bring. The question is is it prudent under the circumstances to bring it given the conditions of the country, given what people would say about the fact that Hillary Clinton was in charge. What it says about the twotier justice system, that is a big deal. Neil it will just raise that issue and in other cases, documents, we remember various cases. So there would be an inconsistency to going after the former president in this case. Im just wondering, the president will always go back to the argument, i was the president and these documents my purview and right to add. Declassify and a growing argument that was the case would change anything. He had them when he shouldnt have had them. But the sheer volume doesnt make a difference either. The fact there were thousands . You know, neil, that goes where i believe President Trump is not helping himself with the public statements. I think if you want a resolution of this without a prosecution, the best thing he could do right now to stop talking about it. I think unfortunately, he sees it in terms of the possibility of making a 2024 run. He sees that this is a positive in terms of his political campaign. It is not like a primary where millions of people vote. 140,000 people voted. So she wins this quite narrowly over her rifle. Again, the promising news is she has campaigned as a conservative and then they conservative sometime and actually a Liberal Democrat and despised margaret thatcher. But we can forgive peoples youthful indiscretions. That was 20, 30 years ago. She is now absolutely, very painlessly. And so, like a lot of people, she has matured and become a conservative and seen the light and promising to do all those things.
