Community my life, in which the people around me did not affect me and contribute to who i am. i m a product of my community and so was madison and so was jefferson and so was washington. all of the founding fathers here. and so it is really important that we understand the contributions of all of the invisible founders that we can understand the true and complete history of our country. and i think even as difficult as that history is, it is required for us to night around a common history. and that history is not too difficult for americans to understand into accepting. at the end of the day, it is patriotic to be able to accept the whole mess of even complicated history. joining us now, caroline randall williams, award winning poet, essayist and educator. she is a writer in residence at vanderbilt university. caroline, thank you for being here. that last point about accepting that america s past is complicated, is that a way to ....
