World. and certainly evan gerschkovich will be front of mind at the white house correspondent s dinner. and the president s family going to be attendance. certainly we all hope he s out-and-out soon. the administration also announced sanctions in iran and russia in response to these exact kind of detentions. do we think this will have any sort of impact, and if not what other levers does the u.s. have to play? i don t think they ll have an immediate impact. these are individuals and espionage agencies that have been sanctioned before, so i don t think that will dramatically change their calculus. i do think in the long-term economically if there s a way to make governments feel this comes at a price. again, these are crimes. these are innocent people. i feel terrible for evan and his family. paul whelan has been held for nearly five years in russia. ....
