Senior Companions honored | News, Sports, Jobs

During National Volunteer Week Senior Companion volunteers were honored with gifts from Connie Maule Senior Companion director and Volunteer Coordinator Linda Paulin at the Escanaba Senior Center. Each Senior Companion received a gift bag containing an IPad and case, a $50 Holiday gas card and an emergency care kit. Five of the Senior Companions were also honored with a plaque of appreciation for their continued service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ESCANABA – Mary Lynn Bunnin (Larson), age 77, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday morning, December 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 28, 1943 in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Nils and Rilla (Christian) Larson. Mary graduated from Escanaba High School with the Class of 1961, attended Bay de Noc Community College, Northern Michigan University, and the University of Wisconsin-Stephens Point. She had lived in Wisconsin and California before returning to Escanaba in the late 1970s.
Mary was always actively involved in the community and constantly gave back. Her career was focused on seniors, having worked for MDS – Community Action Agency for 30 years in various roles. She was director of Foster Grandparents Program and director of VISCAP, and the Escanaba Senior Center. She participated in events such as Walking for Warmth, and was involved with the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, and Caregiver ....
