The May 16 primary elections for Philadelphia City Council featured races for all 17 seats, including seven at-large seats and 10 seats determined by geographic voting districts. On the Democratic side, the race for five at-large nominations is led by Isaiah Thomas, Katherine Gilmore-Richardson, Rue Landau, Nina Ahmad and Jim Harrity. Six district races were uncontested. Incumbents Cindy Bass, Quetcy Lozada and Anthony Philips lead their respective races. In the Republican at-large race, the leading five candidates are Drew Murray, Frank Cristinzio, Gary Grisafi, Jim Hasher and Mary Jane Kelly.
Instead of promoting all five endorsed candidates in one mailer, as is typical, the group sent one flier with two white candidates and another with three Black candidates.
