erroll, for a moment let s get local and talk about elections in new york city. the board of elections in new york city under fire for screwing up tabulations of the mayor s race. they accidentally counted test ballots. maintaining public trust in elections is such an important goal right now. what kind of accountability would you like to see this board face? reporter: i think there s going to be a dialogue and a debate here in new york about whether we can afford to have the antiquated structure of the state and local wboard of elections. we have a board of elections unlike a lot of other states. it s run entirely by the local county organizations, republican and democrat, and so it s filled with family members, patronage cronies, hacks. the level of inefficiency that which put up with for years. we have got ranked force voting. ....
Of course, i don t support that. let bring in erroll, was that flat-footed? the question kind of came out of left field. there are no serious proposals on the table and by that i mean it hasn t been talked about in prior debates. there s been dozens of debates. it hasn t been talked about on the op-ed pages or in the forums where serious decisions get made and so she i think like a lawyer was being a little bit cautious and saying let s think about it and talk about it, but in the current crime wave that we re experiencing here in the city it s not necessarily what poem want to hear. they want to hear that every candidate for mayor is as upset as most new yorkers are about the rising tide of shootings and of homicides so she kind of missed out on half a news cycle based on that one answer. she was seeing some momentum after the endorsement from alexandria ocasio-cortez. is that flattened now? what it reflects is she is trying to get the progressive ....
