Kaufman County Sets Curfew For Minors – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Although several Kaufman County cities already have curfews for minors, the Kaufman County-approved curfew will take effect in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The curfew would issue a misdemeanor citation with a $100 fine for the first violation and up to a $500 fine for subsequent violations.
Exceptions include for minors in the company of their parent or guardian, on an errand authorized by a parent or guardian, school-related activities employment activity and emergencies.
“The purpose of the policy is not to arrest children, but it will allow a deputy to have contact with that child and ask questions,” said Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Wiley, when the curfew was first proposed. “We are going to notify parents if their children are out after midnight.” ....

Should a juvenile be cited for violating the curfew, the parent or guardian could also be cited with a Class C Misdemeanor and subject to a fine. Parents will immediately be notified to ensure the minor s safety.

AUSTIN â State Rep. James White has been reappointed to the Texas Crime Victimsâ Institute Advisory Council for a term set to expire January 31, 2023. The council is charged with conducting an in-depth analysis of the impact of crime on victims, close relatives of deceased victims, guardians of victims and society.
James White, of Hillister, is a Texas State Representative of District 19 and Chair of the Texas House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety. MABANK, TexasÂ âÂ Mabank Police Department and the Texas Rangers are working to determine how an unfortunate set of events unfolded that left a man dead, his father in custody and a family shattered.
Shannon Lynn Riley, 50, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning from his home in the Lighthouse Landing neighborhood on the shores of Cedar Creek Lake and charged with the murder of his son, Jannsen Wiley, 27.
According to a search warrant released Friday, the Mabank police department say that the young man succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest, despite the best efforts of medical personnel already on scene prior to their arrival. ....
