That all oakland unified schools will be open but the teachers wont be in the classroom. They will be forming a picketed line around the schools. Teachers being out there but parents are facing a difficult decision. As parents came to pick up their children many worried about the teachers strike and deciding whether to come back to School Thursday morning. One parent says that the Elementary School parents were told students will be in the cafeteria. There wont be enough adult supervision for the children. Will have substitute teachers watching the students but regular classroom work will be suspended. Some working parents have no choice but to send their child to school. Im a working mom. I dont want to take off. Others dont want to cross the picketed line. The Oakland Education Association are organizing options for parents. Teen industries will be open will be open during the strike. There were 35 calls from parents. We will offer afterschool programs. A lunch program, were going to

Mayor Matt Mahan and city councilmembers joined hundreds of volunteers this week in painting the 12,000 square-foot mural designed by artist Jimmy Paints.
More than 1,200 volunteers are working on San Jose's newest piece of public art this week. It's called Threads Woven, and it's a massive mural near San Pedro Square.
