This is according to experts from Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, who believe power could shift towards France and Germany. Erik Brattberg, Kinga Brudzinka and Bernardo Pires de Lima said that this will be countered by other nations forming smaller factions as has previously been seen during disputes over the EU b ....

Joe Biden's huge snub to Brussels exposed as US-EU tensions reach new heights

Things did not improve from there.
The transatlantic relationship deteriorated significantly after Mr Trump’s White House arrival in 2017, with disagreements over international trade, defence and technology.
European officials have also struggled with his direct style and use of Twitter.
Now Democrat Mr Biden has moved into the Oval Office, many are expecting things to go back to how they were before the American firebrand burst onto the scene.
However, it appears Brussels has already been let down.
Italian MEP Marco Zanni wrote on Twitter: So in the EU, those who thought the music would change with Biden are being disappointed? ....

That starts with the Europeans assuming greater responsibility for their Eastern and Southern neighborhoods and contributing more to addressing hybrid and cyber threats. The specter of a possible return of an America Fir ....

(CNN) You d struggle to find anyone in Europe who will be unhappy to see the back of 2020.
COVID-19, Brexit and the international political carnage of this year have hammered the continent and exacerbated tensions that have blighted the European Union for years.
But those problems are not going anywhere in 2021.
With no pandemic, fraught talks with the UK or an American president as anti-European Union as Donald Trump, Brussels might finally find space to address issues that have long undermined the bloc  though it won t be easy. ....
