Hancock City Manager Mary Babcock discussed the proposed dog park the city is planning to build near the Hancock Driving Park during the recent council meeting. She also addressed various grants the city will be working with over the course of the year.
HANCOCK The City Council held their meeting for May on Wednesday, dealing with everything from energy to the capital improvement plan.
Construction and improvement were the opening topics of discussion, as the city received a note from SEMCO Energy, informing the city and its residents that they will begin replacing gas lines in the next few months. ....

FLINT, MI - Flint residents gathered Sunday afternoon to commemorate seven years since the beginning of the Flint water crisis, reflecting over those lost, the city’s progress and what remains to be done.
A few dozen residents, some standing outside and some remaining in their cars, attended the April 25 event held at the old farmer’s market at 420 E. Boulevard Drive.
The water crisis was triggered in Flint nearly seven years ago when the city, while being run by state-appointed emergency managers, changed Flint’s water source to the Flint River. ....

Though Kenilworth Forest lies directly behind a major mall, the neighborhood feels divorced from the hum of nearby commercial activity. Secluded by rows of trees and a glistening lake, the small community of 99 houses in Asheville is set on sloped terrain, with a narrow main street that culminates in a dead-end.
“There’s only one way in and one way out so everybody’s having to say hi,” said resident Rick Freeman. “It’s quiet and super friendly.”
