City of Hartley Hoping Fast Track Pool Construction By charguth April 14, 2021 5:50 am Saga Communications Hartley, IA (KICD) The City of Hartley hopes construction on the new pool approved by 84 percent of voters last month can be fast-tracked. City Administrator Erica Haack tells KICD News the old pool served the community for 70 years. Hartley Approves General Obligation Bond For New Pool By mmcwilliams March 3, 2021 9:52 am Saga Communications Hartley, IA (KICD) Tuesday night voters in the City of Hartley approved a general obligation bond for the construction of a new pool. City Clerk Erica Haack says the estimated project will be around 3 million dollars. Haack says the pool will be about 4200 Sq Feet of water surface and will have everything for all ages. Haack says the new pool will replace their old one which has suffered leaks and other issues over the years and has served the community since the 1950s. 84% voted in favor of the bond. ....
December 16, 2020 Northwest Iowa When most Americans think of fireworks, they think of Independence Day the 4th of July. But fireworks are popular here and in other parts of the world around the New Year’s holiday as well. Fireworks were made legal in Iowa for a limited time every summer and winter by a change the Legislature came up with a few years ago. In Sheldon, the winter fireworks rules include that you’re only allowed to use fireworks between December 17th and January 2, and only between the hours of noon and 10 p.m. except you get a little longer on New Year’s eve that night you can use them until 12:30 a.m. on January 1st. Sheldon city code also says it has to be on your own property or on another’s property with their consent, and they’re not to be used on public property. It also says those under 18 can only use them under the direct supervision of the child’s parent or guardian. You can’t use them under the influence of alcohol or drugs ....
